TMI Friday: Airing out my Laundry!

I'm linking up with The SuperMom Blues for her TMI Friday. The rules are simple:

1) Write a TMI blog about anything bizarre, weird, or just plain gross that's happened to you (keeping it family friendly!).
2) Take the TMI Friday button and post it into your blog to link back, and
3) Sign up on the linky

I don't normally do the linking thing, but this story was too good NOT to share! I share my humiliation with you, blog readers, in an effort to make you smile this Friday.

Generally, I have a lot I have to remember for the kids every day for Childcare, and Mondays are the worst. On Mondays my oldest son Drew, needs a lunch box, drink, yellow shirt for field trips, his bike (etc); my youngest son Jacob is potty training so he needs new clothes to wear in case he has an accident and his blankets need to be washed each week. It's a lot to remember.

I have grown accustomed to getting all this ready  and have decided to do laundry on Sunday nights so Jacob has fresh blankets on Monday. I put all of our clean laundry on our ottoman, so Louie, our rambunctious puppy, doesn't destroy the laundry on the couch.Monday morning this week I bring his blankets and new clothes in a plastic bag and put the whole bag in his cubby at childcare. I think nothing of it.

Six pm on Monday I get a call from Mr. B to let me know he is on the way home with the kids. He tells me a couple things about their day. Mid-conversation, he asks me, "for some reason, did you bring a couple pairs of your panties to childcare?"

"Um, no. What are you talking about?"

"There was a couple of pairs of your underwear in a plastic bag in Jacob's cubby," He says nonchalantly.

Apparently I grabbed a little somethin-somethin' with his blankets and clothes! At least they were clean, right? I can't even imagine his teacher pulling out those in class. I was/am mortified! What's even worse is that I forgot Jacob's underwear, so it looked like- here is his little boy underwear!

Eventually I am hoping I will be able to look his teachers in the eye again.

Day 1- My favorite song. This one is easy, it's "The First Day of my Life," by Bright Eyes. Mr. B introduced me to this song a while ago, when I was hugely pregnant with my youngest, Jacob.  He showed me the video on youtube. Needless to say it got my hormones going, and I bawled after watching it.

Seriously, watch this video and tell me you are not a tiny bit verklempt. I will tell you that you have a heart of stone if you aren't a little moved!

Now it reminds me of being pregnant with Jacob, and being so excited about meeting him. I remember being a little frightened of the unknown with my first born Drew, but with Jacob, I knew what to expect so there was no fear for me there. just excitement. (Maybe there should have been, LOL.) It was a great time in my life, and our family's life. It's also Drew's favorite song, go figure!

What is your all time favorite song? Do you have one? What does it remind you of?

My Little Nemo

Did you want an update to this post? Well here it is...
Jakey's coming along- he participated in everything on his second day of swim class! I'm so proud of my little swimmer! After class I scooped him up, my little baby burrito in his towel and gave him kisses and he said in his little sing-song voice, "you are happy, Momma". He's an astute boy, my Jacob. I was happy.

PS Sorry for the crappy picture, I thought bringing my nice camera would "jinx" it.
PSS In case you were wondering, I like being right. It's awesome.

Let's hope it goes swimmingly

Tonight Jacob is going to his very first swim class. While he is incredibly excited, I am waiting with baited breath. You see, I decided to convince the swim director to let him into the "Ages 3-5" swim class, as opposed to putting him in the "Parent and Me" 0-3 Swim class, even though he is a little under 3 (3 months, to be exact).

Mr. B thought I should sign him up for the "Parent and Me" swim class. I've been to those classes, they are basically exist to adjust your child to the water. Jacob's there already- he's leaping into Mr. B's arms off of docks, going down water slides, trying to walk as far as possible in lakes, etc. There is a big BUT though, he has not been in a deep pool before. Drew will be there, though and he is  comfortable with the pool, and Jacob trusts his big brother.

Please think good thoughts for me about Jacob's foray into swimming, if not for Jacob, than for me to prove Mr. B wrong.*  After all, he did question if Drew would like swimming class and guess who was right then?
*Also, to ensure I don't look like an asshat for putting him in an older class, because either I come out of this looking like a confident parent or an asshat, at least to myself.

Drew's Guide to Life

When a joke you are telling starts to tank, a surefire way to save it is to through in the word poop.

There is such a thing as "banana poop" and it is comedy GOLD!

Close-up of an old steam train on a railroad track, Elephanta Caves, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India Square When crossing train tracks, be sure to put two fingers up. This signifies that you have acknowledged the train tracks existence and that you recognize there are "two train tracks". Obviously, this doesn't apply to all train tracks.

The best place to eat in the whole entire world is Old County Buffet. You know, they have an ice cream machine there. Go there now.

You never know, you know?

Being a big brother is awesome, just make sure you ALWAYS go to bed latest. You don't want to lose that hierarchy. It's worth fighting for!

Also, every once in a while, randomly tell your Mom that you love her. She will turn to mush.

Capturing magic

This is the picture that I took last year that my family wanted me to recapture. I told them that it is like trying to capture magic, getting another shot like that...
Hope you all had as magical of a 4th as I did.
