Maroon 5, Doggy Sundaes and Snoopy (Subtitled: I Want to live in My kid's Imagination, it's awesome there)

This morning was a toughie. Why is it that the wine that sounded so great last night made me feel so terrible this morning? Unfair- it was only 3 glasses, good gravy (sorry, I am obsessed with trying to work good gravy into a sentence- did it work there?) I am a lightweight.

The point is I was hurting a little and we were running late. Luckily the imagination of Drew saved our morning drive and reminded why 5 year old conversations are awesome (and ultimately much more fulfilling than adult conversations):

Halfway to school Maroon 5's "Misery" came on the radio.

Drew: You know, I could see Louie dancing to this.

(In case you forgot, this is Louie)

Me: Really?!?

Drew: Yes, I see him dancing around on one toe, twirling around, surrounded by bowls of vanilla ice cream with doggy bones stuck in them.

(I s#$t you not people, that's what he said.)

Me: Wow.  (Pause) That's quite a picture in my head.

(This is the pic in my head)
This dog-

Doing This:

surrounded by "Doggie Sundaes"

Drew: Yep! (Said all smugly) and then I will be like (Breaking into a smug dance the equivalent of the 'Head nod' dance- and Drew can dance, so this looked pretty cool.)

Me: I would love to see that!

Drew: Yeah, I'm a pretty good dancer. So can we bring a CD player outside with this song when we get home?

Me: Yes, we can.

Thanks for the funny this morning, Drew.

** On a side note, this makes me wish I had written down the conversation that I had with Mr. B about monkeys when he was sleep-talking. Mr. B sleep-talks a LOT. That post would be titled: Mr. B is a monkey trainer when he falls asleep

Day 5- Favorite Quote

There are many quotes I love, but I thought I'd pick a fitting one for myself right now:
Guitar in lounge chair on beach

Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness.
Maya Angelou

I definitely use music as my escape.... and while I am not technically lonely, all this time spent with people makes me feel lonely for a moment to myself sometimes. Music gives me that release.

Day 4- My Favorite Book

Woman reading book in hammock on beachOh guys, this one is oh, so hard. Books symbolize periods of time in my life, and each time I had a favorite. There was my Anne Rice's Vampire book phase, my VC Andrew's gothic novel phase, My "I'm going to read literary books" phase (A Prayer for Owen Meany? didn't like it! Catcher in the Rye? I did), My "chick lit can be good writing and I will prove it phase", or my "I have a library card and will get to ready any book I damn well choose" phase? I don't know where to start so here are some of my favorites from each phase.

Some of (But not even close to all) my favorite reads (through the years of my life from 6th grade on)

The Vampire Lestat, by Anne Rice
Flowers in the Attic, by VC Andrews (Because let's face it, the others were dreck)
Little Children, by Tom Perotta
The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, by Michael Chabon
Anybody out there? by Marian Keyes

Day 3- My Favorite TV Show

Hmm, my favorite TV show. Well,  I used to love Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, and American Idol, but last year they were kind of duds, so they were removed from my rotation. The Office was pretty weak this year, too. I think that makes my choice of my new favorite shows has to be the new shows I started watching this year:

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES

Okay, first of all, have you seen these two?

Seriously, though the show is just well written from a plot development standpoint. I love True Blood, but sometimes it seems like they use gore and sex as a way of developing the plot. Every time I watched this show, I was surprised by the plot twists, and then the last minutes of the finale this year was game changing and awesome. If you like anything vampires, I think this is better than Twilight and on par with True Blood. Don't let the fact that it's on the CW disturb you. Also important- stick around past the pilot episode, which was still trying to find it's footing. Rent or buy the first season and watch it before the next season.

My Second pic is:

Sure, this show has been a little uneven, but the moments of hilarity outweighed that. It's one of the more inventive sitcoms I have seen. Mr. B and I made watching this show an event for us, saving it for Saturday nights to enjoy with a few drinks. I suggest you do the same. Plus, I have a special place in my heart for Chevy Chase since my Dad WAS Clark Griswald in the 80's.

Seriously- Compare: Clark Griswald

My Dad:
These pictures don't even do it justice....

Also, of course I love Chuck, but you already knew that, right?

Day 2- My Favorite Movie

For my favorite movie, I must name two movies, because for every sweet there is a sour, every yin has a yang, you get the idea. So I must include my favorite movie that makes me cry and makes me laugh.

My favorite sad movie is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. In this movie, directed by the ever so amazing/weird/genius/strange work of Charlie Kaufman, who wrote Adaptation and Being John Malkovitch. Jim Carrey plays Joel Barrish, a man who has a procedure done to erase all of the memories of his ex, Clementine (Kate Winslett- Love her!) to get over their breakup. In the course of one night, she is erased from his memories. This movie is heartbreaking, beautiful and trippy all at once, and Jim Carrey is subtle, yet amazing in it. Even if you are not of fan of his, I think you would be impressed with him in this role. For all his eccentricities, the guy is a great actor.

My favorite Movie that makes me happy is Anchorman. Yes, it's stupid, very, very stupid. It is also the most quotable movie, and the first time I saw it I thought I was going to have a heart attack from laughing so hard. Will Ferrel is an acquired taste, but to me, he is a genius! If your disagree, I might call you a smelly pirate hooker. Just sayin'.
