What We Have

It's Spring Break around here.

A lot of D and J's friends are going places. One of his friends told me nonchalantly "we are going to Disneyworld, I think."

The Bees are staying home. My not working, a new baby, and a desperate need for a new roof kept us there.

Sometimes I worry because we are in an affluent suburb that they will feel the sting of being on the lower end of the "normal" income spectrum. It's hard for me to watch as they see their friends going places and doing things we just can't afford.

Then again...

I told the boys we are going to the local Zoo. They are over the moon thrilled. They are excited to all be home as a family.

Never once did they complain about not going on a trip. Never once do they take a fun outing for granted. I can guarantee that my children will never say they are going to Disneyworld nonchalantly.

 J told me that we "don't have a lot of money". This is my fault naturally, as when they want to do something this is tooridiculous/tooexpensive/toomuchsomething, I flat out tell them it's too expensive (along with other reasons). Sometimes this is true, sometimes it's a little bit of a fib, but it stops the begging. "No," I corrected him. "We have just the right amount."

And it's true. Look at all we have.

That being said, we could still really use a vacation. Just keeping it real.

Conversations of my life

Conversation bubble with curse word symbols

Mr. Bee: Your hair looks nice today.

Me: Thanks!

Mr. Bee: Did you do something different?

Me: Yeah, I washed and brushed it.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Drew (looking up at the counter): Oh, my Halloween candy is gone. I guess the Candy Fairy took it.
Me: The Candy Fairy?
Drew: Yeah the Candy Fairy comes and takes the candy until Christmas.
~~~~~~~~~~~

Friend: My Mom goes out to lunch every single day with her friends. It's like, how does she even have that much time?

Me: I know, my Mom goes out to lunch with a group of friends a lot.

Friend: It's really annoying sometimes.

Me: Yeah. (Pause) I hope we get to do the same one day.

Friend: Yeah, me too.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lyrics to Drew's made up song:
Bow Chica Wow wow
That's what my baby said
bow wow wow
heart starts pumpin'
chica chica goo
I love you
bow wow wow
heart starts pumpin'
chica chica goo
I love you
Picture Quiz!
Can you guess what is going on in this picture?
Bee family projects
A. We are obsessed with beige and are making beige slipcovers for our couches.
B. A beige monster is trying to swallow our house and is starting with our loveseat.
C. The little plastic army men from Toy Story set up a bunker on our loveseat to protect themselves from Mr. Tugboat and Mater From Cars who had already taken out Mr. Potato head by removing his legs and arms.
D. I took a nap and awoke to a mess and my two little mischeivous boys were located inside, waiting for me to discover them.
What are your guesses? Also, 5$ goes to the person that can talk Mr. Bee into repainting a wall or two...
The Bee Family Snowed in/Winterfest games
Creative Video gaming: On Mario Kart Wii, Drew gets to be the "co-pilot" and cheer Mommy and Daddy on.
Where is Baby?:
Mommy wanders the house trying to figure out what toilet Jacob is sticking his fingers in. Mommy wins if she catches Jacob beforehand.
Creative channel surfing:
Dad switches channels as Mom monitors and informs him when content is inappropriate.
Mommarazzi Fest '08:
Mommy takes a million pictures of absolutely nothing. Everyone wins... and loses!
Hide n' Seek:
Mommy and Daddy "hide" in bed. Short naps optional.... for Dad.The winner gets to lay in bed for the longest.
Daddy Monitoring: Drew brings his Elmo chair in to have a family bonding experience while Dad is on the toilet. Jacob soon follows. Mommy feigns ignorance that the children have joined their Daddy, and reads blogs on the computer. Mommy always wins this game.
Mom and Jacob's Double Dash race:
Jacob and Mommy race to the bathroom to see who can get there first. First one there wins a hand dunk in the toilet/closing of the bathroom door.
Pajama Party:
Pajamas are worn all day by the Bee Family. Loser is the one who has to put on regular clothes first.
Target practice:
Drew uses the potty standing up. Mom automatically loses and gets to clean up.
Naked Time:
Drew sporadically takes off all of his clothes during lunch proclaiming "naked time". Winner is the one who gets Drew to put on underwear before he sits down at the dining room table.
Book Reading Hour:
Jacob brings out a book for Mom and/or Dad to read, and then signs "more" for them to read it again... and again.... and again..... Winner is the one who can read the book the most times without giving up.
Name that smell:
Contestants have 5 seconds to determine if it was a fart or a poop that came out of the baby. The "winner" gets to change that diaper.
