Exiled Into Pop Culture Oblivion

I don't really watch or read any gossip magazines, I try to stay away from all the gossip magazines aside from reviews of shows and movies and information about shows I like. Still, certain things have infiltrated my world, and I would like them to go away. I would like to call this the "Exiled into Pop Culture Oblivion". Please people, make them stop! Here are my top ten things that I wish to never hear of again:

1. Perez Hilton: Dude, as if you weren't annoying enough already.
You have to go and call someone else a gay slur to "piss them off". This is not the way to show tolerance. I'm not asking you to be a spokesperson for gay rights, but I am asking you not to further perpetuate this slur.

2. Chris Brown: Not even gracing you with a picture with this one. I think this is self explanatory. Moving on....

3. Jennifer Aniston's Love Life: No, not Jennifer Aniston. Of course I love Jennifer Aniston. She's adorable! But I never want to hear another word about her love life. Never. I don't care that she went out on a date with Vince Vaughan er, John Mayer, er Bradley Cooper, and it was fun. I just don't give a rat's ass, and I really don't think her and Brad are having late night meetings behind Angelina's back, either.

4.Michael Jackson Songs: Okay, yes, it's sad he died, but guess what? I hadn't listened to his music in about 10 years; neither had anyone else. Give it a rest DJ's.... try to limit yourselves to 10 MJ songs per night, m'kay?

5. Two name combos for couples: Brangelina, Bennifer... why do people think that is fun or clever? If I heard someone using these in real life seriously, I might feel compelled to slap them. For their own good, of course.

6. Jon and Kate: This is sad, people, that people's lives and worse yet, children's lives are being ruined by fame and we are encouraging it by watching. Turn the TV show off, let the ratings slide and let those poor children have a break. Why aren't we holding executives at TLC accountable for letting this monstrosity go on for as long as it has?

7. The Hills and the Real World: Seriously MTV, stop pretending that these shows are real. Own up to the fakeness like Vh1 has. (I can't help it but I heart Rock of Love. At least it owns up to it's own trampiness campiness.)

8. Lady Gaga: Seriously WTF Lady Gaga? I know you think that you are "cutting edge" and avant garde with this getup, but really you are just coming across as misogynistic.

9. MTV: You are called Music Television, yet I have not seen a video on your channel for years! Why don't you just change your name to SRTV (scripted "reality" television)?

And finally, last but not least.....

10. Elmo: Darn Elmo, you are so over played that my little boy thinks everything RED is Elmo. I think you must have some sort of hypnosis in you vocal cords designed for children 2 and under. It's just wrong how much they love you!

Whew! Now that I got THAT off of my chest it's your turn. What things would you like to see disappear out of our pop culture lexicon?

Check back to see if I commented on your comment, I'd love to hear what's bugging you!

Not Me Monday! Anal Retentive Edition

Well I am back for more Not Me! Monday! It's been a while, and I have really NOT missed it!
This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I am so NOT totally sick of all the toys that have a million pieces! I totally did NOT go through my house and hide all blocks, bags of balls and anything that could be dumped out on the floor and thrown around. I would NOT do that because I would recognize that little boys need to be messy!

I also did NOT almost have a heart attack and become the Duchess of Drama when Drew clomped his big muddy galoshes all over the floor which did NOT prompt Drew to turn into Mr. Drama and run and hide in a corner for 10 minutes.

I so did NOT feel like Kate Gosselin and I so did NOT want to make both kids wear bibs 24/7 and banish them to the basement to save on mess!

I so did NOT get all cheesy and call Jacob "Cool Dude" for the entire three minutes he wore Drew's sunglasses. I would NOT do that because it is not 1989!

I am NOT totally devastated that MSU did SO poorly against Ohio State in the Big Ten Tournament. I would NEVER get all worked up about a basketball game. I am NOT completely worried about their chances of doing well in the NCAA tournament, because I know that that game against Ohio State was a fluke and totally NOT a sign of weakness! {Bites nails.}

I will NOT take this time to tell people coming over from MckMama's blog that if they love blog carnivals they should come back on Friday for my Friday Favorites blog carnival. I would NOT also direct them to this link to check out last week's FF's to find out what Friday Favorites is all about! I would NOT do this because I am NOT the type of person to constantly hype something and drive all my weekly readers insane. (Seriously....do NOT go check them out!)

Thanks for playing along and do NOT have a good Monday everyone {wink wink}!

When is it too much?

I used to love the show Jon and Kate plus Eight. Loved it, thought the family was so cute. This season however, I've started to dislike it and I realized why.

I noticed that Jon and Kate were doing less working and housework and I heard the rumors why... Jon doesn't work because of how much money they make off the show and going to churches. They have an organic gourmet chef who cooks for them, and people who come and clean and do the laundry. I mean all of this is fine and dandy, but it doesn't make for a good show. If I want to watch people getting stuff for just living their lives, I'll watch Let's make a Deal or something. I liked how "real" their life and struggles seemed and now it all seems fake. Considering I work full time, have two little children, and pay over $1500 a month in childcare with barely enough time to ever write in my blog, let alone go on trips everywhere, I don't like to watch something where I hear someone cry poor me and neither parent is working, paying for childcare, cleaning, or cooking? I mean I know they have 8 kids, but please! They go on free trips all of the time and they have both had plastic surgery (I don't blame Kate for hers, but the hair surgery for Jon? Come on!). This is not a normal functioning family.

But even before the rumors, I was starting to feel the cameras were there too much and the kids need a break. Who can live their life under the cameras and lighting. I mean look at all the spoiled Real World kids. After it is all over they bitch about the 5 months being scrutinized under the camera, and these little children have lived their entire lives under it! It's all the sextuplets know! Drew will be 4 soon and I CONSTANTLY worry about him growing up to live a normal life and being happy. I want to give him every opportunity to do so, and these children, I feel, are destined for failure. Don't get me wrong, I was totally in support of them getting help, and monetary help, but at some point, you are just pimping out your kids. I even worry about putting images on my blog of my children. I never put images of my nieces or nephews for that very reason. I mean, will Drew be mad one day that I wrote about his potty issues, or hurt that at one time, I didn't like him that much? It is a risk I am taking. I worry about this and I don't know if Jon and Kate worry about doing this to their family at all. I don't think they are horrible parents, actually far from it, I think they have just gone a little Hollywood for my taste. They need to come back down to earth and get the damn cameras out of their house.

In case you are wondering, they will be removed from my DVR lineup. Iron Chef America and Design Star are staying, however. (Such a reality-tv junkie at heart!)
